Template Specific Instructions

Changing Your Name in the Header Area:

  1. If you have an outside graphics program and capabilities to letter images, open the file "yourname_blank.jpg" in your graphics program (the file is located in the design_name_dwt/graphics/ folder of your web).  Make the changes, then save back to the SAME folder as "yourname.jpg", overwriting the original.

  2. If you do not have an outside graphics program, you may use FrontPage to type in your lettering.  Simply highlight and delete the image in the upper right with our lettering, then type in your lettering.  Note:  for THIS option, you must modify the actual DWT file(s).

Changes to Non-Editable Regions:

  1. All desired changes to Non-Editable Regions must be made on the actual DWT file itself.  The changes made on that file will propogate throughout your web to all pages having the revised DWT attached to them, as well as any future pages to which the DWT is attached.

  2. This DWT design contains two areas on each DWT requiring modification:  the name in the header area (see instructions above), and the name/year in the bottom bar Copyright area.  Please note that the Copyright statement on your pages referring to you does NOT include a copyright to the design/template itself (see "Copyright and Licensing Information" below).

Scripting:

  1. Please refer to the DWT Interchange Guidelines website for current information regarding scripting (ASP, Javascript, etc.) located outside the <body> </body> tags of web pages.

Colors, Graphics and Theme Information:

  1. This design uses an external style sheet to apply all colors and fonts, as well as to control layout and spacing in various table cells.  The style sheet is located in the folder design_name_dwt/ of your web.  If you are familiar with CSS and wish to make modifications to the fonts and/or colors, you may edit the style sheet.  Please note:  some areas may not be changeable to due the graphical nature of the design.

  2. All graphics used in the design of this DWT are contained in the design_name_dwt/graphics/ folder of your web.

  3. This design does not use a FrontPage theme; the button rollovers, etc., are fully controlled by the external style sheet.

Navigation Changes for the 'submenu' Region:

  1. FrontPage navigation systems are either oriented vertically or horizontally.  If you are applying this or any other DWT design to web pages which had the navigation orientation set differently from the orientation defined in the DWT being attached, you will need to manually change the orientation on the web page.  To accomplish this, first attach the new design.  Then, in FrontPage Design view, right click over the navigation/link bar and select "Link Bar Properties" from the pop-up window.  Click on the "Style" tab, then, in the lower left, click the appropriate radio button for the applied DWT design.  Click "OK," then save.  You will need to repeat this process on each link bar in your web having a changed orientation.  NOTE:  You may elect to perform Step 3, if necessary, at the same time you perform this step.

  2. Sub Menu navigation changes are required on pages having multiple levels within the FrontPage navigation system.  The default setting for the editable region "sub_menu" is "Child level."  If this is your initial attachment of this or any other DWTIG compliant template, you may need to change the default of "Child level" to "Same level."  This specific change will not be required on subsequent applications of any DWTIG compliant template.

  3. This design does not use a FrontPage theme; the Style of the vertical and horizontal Link Bars are set to "Xxxxx | Xxxxx | Xxxxx".  If you are attaching this DWT design to a web previously using a theme, you many need to change the Style properties on the link bars of each page.  To do this,  in FrontPage Design view, right click over the navigation/link bar and select "Link Bar Properties" from the pop-up window.  Click on the "Style" tab, then scroll down to and select the  "Xxxxx | Xxxxx | Xxxxx" link.  Click "OK," then save.  You may need to repeat this process on each link bar in your web on the initial application.
